29 & 30 July: LOVE YOUR WATER: ANZAC DRIVE RESERVE PLANTING DAYS

The Avon-Otakaro Network is lovingly overlooking the restoration of Anzac Drive Reserve, as the Mahinga Kai Exemplar, in partnership with Ngai Tahu, and support from Ngai Tuahuriri, Department of Conservation and Christchurch City Council. We invite you to join us for a fun day of tree planting at the Anzac Drive Reserve, near Travis Wetland at 10am on Saturday 30 July 2016.

Last year we had a fantastic time with local schools and community members. This year we’re planning on putting even more trees in the ground with your help.

Simply meet from 10.00am at Corserland Street on the west side of Anzac Drive Reserve. Look for our blue Sustainable Coastlines flags. Although LINZ has put a barrier across Norcross Street, you have permission to drive up around the edge to get around it. Alternatively just park on Brooker Ave and walk across the grass to the planting site.

We’ll be starting from 10.00am and continue until around 4.00pm, or whenever we get the trees in the ground. You can stay for as little or as long as you like, but don’t miss out on local scones and muffins from around 12 noon and a BBQ provided by the Avon-Otakaro Network!

Volunteers, corporate groups and schools are all welcome to come along and get your hands dirty and plant new native trees to help the regeneration of this special reserve. And remember – to make this event possible we need your help to fund this project. To volunteer please register through the website above.

What to bring
-- Sturdy, closed-toe shoes that you don’t mind getting a bit muddy. This is critical for Health & Safety considerations: those not wearing closed-toe shoes will not be able to participate.
-- Warm and waterproof clothes. At least one warm top layer and a rain jacket.
-- Sun hat and sunscreen
-- Reusable water bottle (filled up and ready to go)
-- Camera (optional). We would love to see your event photos! Use the tag #loveyourwater on social media or email photos to oliver(at)sustainablecoastlines.org
